Environment Minister names panel on how to ‘modernize’ the National Energy Board

A federal panel will review how Canada handles environmental assessments for major resources projects and provide suggestions.

Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna announced Monday she had appointed a four-member panel to write a report, due by the end of January, highlighting how to update the country’s environmental review processes. A second, soon-t0-be-named panel, will have a “complementary mandate” to provide recommendations on “modernizing” the National Energy Board, which oversees major pipeline projects.
