Regulating Agri-Tourism and Farm Retail Sales in the Agricultural Land Reserve Minister’s Bylaw Standards

The B.C. Ministry of Agriculture has prepared a discussion paper to seek local government input into a draft Minister’s Bylaw Standard to assist local government bylaw development regulating agri-tourism, agri-tourism accommodation and farm retail sales in the Agricultural Land Reserve.

Please read the discussion paper including the proposed Minister’s Bylaw Standards and submit comments.

The consultation on the proposed Minister’s Bylaw Standard is open and will now close at midnight PST, January 15, 2016. There has been significant interest in this topic and the consultation has been extended to ensure local governments have adequate time to respond. Agri-tourism operators will also have the opportunity to provide their feedback.

Based on the input received, staff will prepare any necessary revisions and submit it for the Minister’s approval. If approved, the definitions and bylaw standard criteria in Part 4 of the document will be incorporated in the ‘Guide for Bylaw Development in Farming Areas’ pursuant to Section 916 of the Local Government Act.
