AGCO – Shores of Erie Wine Festival probed by Ontario liquor regulator – Windsor – CBC News

Date:

The Shores of Erie International Wine Festival is being investigated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario in relation with the death of Emily Bernauer, the 18-year-old who had been working for a vendor at the festival last year.

The province’s liquor regulator launched the investigation last year after Bernauer was killed on Sept. 6, 2014 in a single-car rollover.

The car Bernauer was driving veered the road, hit a mailbox and rolled over on Concession 2 North, in Amherstburg, a town located about 30 kilometres south of Windsor, Ont.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario investigation could affect the future operation of the festival.

A spokesperson told CBC News, depending on the outcome of the investigation, the wine festival could be refused future liquor permits or its permits could have conditions attached.
