Alberta Securities Commission comes down hard on Platinum Equities Inc.

Platinum Equities Inc. and its founder Shariff Chandran have been hit with punishments totaling over $1 million in connection with a large-scale fraud that, in some cases, bilked investors of their life savings.

The Alberta Securities Commission made the ruling this week, noting that “Over $58 million was raised from investors in the Platinum Issuer syndications, a significant portion of that through illegal trades and distributions.”
