B.C.’s taxi industry dismayed at government’s friendly attitude towards Uber

Christy Clark’s Liberal government is risking a backlash from Indo-Canadian voters if it gives a special deal to ride-sharing service Uber at the expense of the taxi industry.

That’s the view of NDP MLA Harry Bains, who says he was flooded with panicked calls from taxi drivers last week after the government made friendly overtures to the popular-but-controversial ride-sharing smartphone app.
