Tech-giant Uber is valued at about $70 billion US and is now operating in over 330 cities worldwide. The massive ride-hailing company is apparently burning through billions to subsidize cheap rides in a war of attrition with taxi services in 60 countries, reports say. So why is Uber getting beat in Vancouver?
“I don’t know if the war has been won yet, (Uber) is too quiet now,” Carolyn Bauer of the Vancouver Taxi Association said with a chuckle, before entering a Uber strategy meeting Tuesday.
Bauer and her colleagues sound strangely confident despite evidence of strong demand for Uber’s services in B.C.
