Oakville nuclear manufacturer gets $144 million contract from Bruce Power

Oakville’s Laker Energy Products has received a $144 million contract from Bruce Power for its Major Component Replacement (MCR) project.

The local nuclear manufacturer made the announcement Monday, April 23 from its 835 Fourth Line facility before an audience of around 100 employees.

Laker Energy Products will provide end fittings, liners and flow elements for Bruce Power’s MCR project.

“We have an incredibly skilled workforce, which looks forward to the challenge of manufacturing the high-quality parts that will allow the Bruce Power reactors to produce low-cost energy until 2064,” said Chris Hughes, Laker Energy president and CEO.

“Nuclear electricity is the backbone of Ontario’s energy supply, and through this agreement, Laker Energy Products will continue to play an important role in providing this important resource.”

Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power’s president and CEO, said this agreement is significant for Bruce Power, the people of Laker Energy and for the Oakville area because the components will be manufactured locally.
