Securities law breakers more likely to go to jail in Alberta, statistics show

Violators of securities law were far more likely to go to jail in Alberta than anywhere else in Canada in 2015.

According to the annual enforcement report of the Canadian Securities Administrators released Tuesday, a total of 15 people were handed jail sentences in Canada last year for violating provincial securities acts. The sentences ranged from 30 days to two years for a total of 10 years, up from 7.5 years in 2014.
