Alberta’s Finance Minister has named a new head of the provincial securities commission, while voicing his opposition to a national regulator.
Stan Magidson, who recently stepped down as president of the Institute of Corporate Directors, succeeds Bill Rice as chairman and chief executive officer of the Alberta Securities Commission. Mr. Rice retired last year after serving in the role for a decade.
