A judge has refused to allow the operators of an Interior tree farm to run a wedding business on property in the Agricultural Land Reserve.
Karen and Jeryl Walters, who run High Country Tree Farm on a 79-acre property at Notch Hill northwest of Salmon Arm, sought a court declaration that the use of their land for weddings from May to August be designated a farm use under Agricultural Land Commission Act regulations.
The Walters had for many years used the property, which is in the Agricultural Land Reserve, as a “flora-culture” farm where boxwood, cedar, pine and fir trees are grown, along with pine cones, willow, moss and other wild floral products.
