Airport passengers can now use their phones to request an Uber ride from the Calgary International Airport, in a move being celebrated by Calgary’s business community. Since the ride-share giant launched in Calgary on Dec. 6, drivers were allowed to drop passengers off at the airport but pickups were off limits.
That changed Wednesday, with Uber and the Calgary Airport Authority reaching a deal that allows Uber to use designated ride-share pickup areas on the departures level.
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with the Calgary Airport Authority, the first airport in Alberta to allow both residents and visitors in Calgary to ride with Uber easily to and from the airport,” Ramit Kar, Uber Western Canada general manager, said in a statement.
