Justice Minister has ‘no problem’ with relaxed liquor laws during Stampede

Justice Minister and Solicitor General Jonathan Denis is fine with relaxed liquor laws during the Calgary Stampede and he doesn’t reject the notion of higher speed limits on highways either.

The key to both is ensuring public safety is not compromised, Denis said at his Stampede breakfast that drew 1,400 to Willowridge Community Hall Saturday.

“I have no problem if people want to go out and have a few beverages, but they have to realize that people’s safety has to be the No. 1 concern,” Denis said of the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission decision to let bars open on Stampede mornings.
