A new investigation model at WorkSafeBC is in operation and expected to ensure court prosecutions move forward successfully.
The new model was recommended last July by Gord Macatee, a former provincial bureaucrat appointed as a special administrator at WorkSafeBC by Labour Minister Shirley Bond following two botched investigations of deadly sawmill explosions in 2012.
“All of the investigative staff at this point have the training I recommended. The major case management protocols are in place. The systems are in place. They’ve had the opportunity to test the ability to make this model work,” Macatee said Tuesday during a progress update of his 43 recommendations.
