The Alberta government finally appointed a new chair of the Alberta Securities Commission this week, and it could not have made a better choice.
Stan Magidson is a former partner with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and the outgoing president and chief executive of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD). He holds a Master’s degree in corporate law from New York University focusing on securities regulation and spent two years on secondment from Osler at the Ontario Securities Commission where he built the takeover group.
