BC Hydro charged up over Site C review, glosses over cost concerns

B.C. Hydro was trumpeting Tuesday the findings of a review of planning and risk management on the hydroelectric dam at Site C on the Peace River.

“Review concludes project is clearly defined and well planned,” said the press release accompanying the report from Ernst & Young and BTY Consultancy Group.

The release went on to highlight several of the more flattering passages in the report, notably: “Overall, our review finds that the project is well defined and that the processes for managing risks and costs are largely representative of leading practices.

“Execution of the major work packages are clearly scoped and supported by both a robust set of project management practices and tools, as well as by a team with deep experience on delivering major projects for B.C. Hydro.”
