Federal Conservative leadership candidate Maxime Bernier says the CRTC’s function as telecom regulator should be phased out, calling the agency’s “control freak mindset” a barrier to investment and sustainable competition.
“It’s not the role of the CRTC or the government to decide how this increasingly complex market should evolve,” he said in remarks at the Canadian Telecom Summit in Toronto on Tuesday. “It’s up to the producers and consumers.”
