NEB Draft Conditions: Taking a closer look

For more than three years, Trans Mountain has been carrying out extensive environmental and technical studies, engineering and design work, as well as a robust public engagement program, as part of the regulatory review of our proposal that has been underway since 2013.

As part of that process the National Energy Board (NEB) released updated draft conditions on August 12 that we are required to fulfill in order for our Project to proceed. During the course of the review, thousands of intervenors and commenters have had the opportunity to ask questions, provide evidence and offer their views on the Project.

We believe the 145 draft conditions are thorough and comprehensive, but achievable. They demonstrate the kind of rigour and detail that goes into every stage of this Project to mitigate risks, protect the environment and operate safely. It’s important that people understand these conditions are required and enforced by the regulator.
