The federal government has appointed four people to consult with communities along the Energy East pipeline after concerns over the integrity of National Energy Board’s hearing process forced three members to step down last month. Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, Jim Carr, announced Thursday that the four will travel along the route of the project on behalf of the NEB to “carry out enhanced community and Indigenous engagement.” It said the positions would be temporary and were assigned as part of an earlier decision in June to improve public consultation.
