REGWATCH NEEDS YOUR HELP! **Fall 2022 Canadian Coverage Fundraiser**

Date:

There’s never a good time to ask people to part with their money. But with the deadline fast approaching for the implementation of the federal excise tax on vaping, it’s more important than ever for RegWatch to provide comprehensive coverage to highlight the disastrous impacts of the excise tax on the Canadian vaping industry and soon, for Canadian vaping product consumers.

  • What’s the impact of the implementation? How is the government ushering in the tax?

  • What are the complexities, challenges, and roadblocks?

  • Will the tax impact variety and choice of vaping products?

  • How will the tax impact sales?

  • Will some vapers return to smoking?

  • Could this tax help Health Canada realize its goal of 0% annual growth in sales of vaping products during the 2025-2050 period?

Coverage of the excise tax matters as most consumers and many retailers are unaware of the heavy burden born by industry producers and distributors who are responsible for implementing this tax. And since RegWatch coverage is watched by policymakers in the federal government, it’s an opportunity to press the industry’s case.

In addition to excise tax coverage, this fall RegWatch will also cover the fight for flavours, industry legal challenges, and new research in support of vaping, to name a few key areas.

To date, we have only raised 1/3 of the annual Canadian funding support we’ve received over the past 3 years.

Over the next few weeks, we are seeking funding of $18,000 (including tax and ad spend) to cover a min. of “6” new episodes this fall and to help offset “3” already released episodes in June that featured recently released research supportive of vaping and a critical discussion of “enforcement” of existing vaping laws & regulations in Canada.
