The NDP government’s long-awaited decision on the fate of the Site C dam will come down Monday.
Premier John Horgan will make the announcement at 11:30 a.m. in the library rotunda at the B.C. legislature, the same location where former Premier Christy Clark announced Site C’s approval in December 2014.
Horgan’s announcement will be preceded by an hour-long “lock-up” style technical briefing for media with government staff, the premier’s office said.
There has been growing speculation in recent days that Horgan will approve the energy megaproject despite stiff opposition from some members of his caucus and from the B.C. Green party.
Green Leader Andrew Weaver suggested on Twitter Sunday that voters launch a recall campaign against Energy Minister Michelle Mungall in her Nelson-Creston riding if the project is approved.
