The Squamish First Nation has outlined five major conditions before a $1.6-billion Woodfibre LNG project can proceed in an effort to protect the environment and safety of its members.
The band’s lawyer Aaron Bruce said the conditions were identified in an extensive independent environmental review conducted by Pottinger Gaherty consultants that looked at both technical aspects of the project and specific concerns of band members.
The band says the project would involve a 52-kilometre twinned pipeline from Indian Arm to Squamish, including a 700-metre pipeline trench on the west side of the Squamish River, and an estimated two to four tankers travelling per month.
