On one hand, you have the cigarette which is proven to be deadly and on the other, you have vaping, which despite relentless demonization is considered by even the most ardent critic, to be a much safer alternative to smoking. As the saying goes within vaping advocacy: Smoking kills and vaping saves lives.
But this axiom presents a difficult challenge as the minute big tobacco got involved in the vaping industry the antennae of long-time tobacco control advocates went ballistic: the tobacco industry’s business is to hook people on a lifelong addiction to nicotine, and for many within tobacco control, the business of vaping appears to be no different.
