Mount Macpherson rec area logging: CSRD again requests consultation

Date:

Columbia Shuswap Regional District board were unhappy with the response received from the Ministry of Forests after they requested more public consultation for the proposed logging at Mount Macpherson. The Columbia Shuswap Regional District board (CSRD) will continue to appeal to BC’s forests ministry for more rigorous public consultation when proposed logging is in recreational areas, after receiving a dismissal for their latest appeal.

The board wrote to Minister Steve Thomson on March 30, after it was decided that the public consultation was lacking regarding the proposed logging at the Mount Macpherson recreation area, which will affect trails at the Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club and the Revelstoke Cycling Association’s mountain bike trails.

A response was received on May 19. It doesn’t expressly dismiss the CSRD’s request but goes into detail about the current consultation process that has been carried out and finishes with encouraging the CSRD to continue to engage in its public consultation.
