The chips are now in the hands of Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited.
The gaming company, based in British Columbia, has been selected as the service provider for the North and southwest gaming bundles by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
Gateway will also have the opportunity to build two new gaming and entertainment facilities in North Bay and Kenora.
Mayor Al McDonald said the proposed casino will create between 150 to 200 jobs for the city, pay property tax and provide to the city approximately 5% of the revenue, estimated to be between $1 million and 2 million per year.
