Peace River North MLA Cleared Of Wrongdoing By Conflict Commissioner

B.C.’s conflict commissioner has cleared Liberal MLA Pat Pimm of any wrongdoing in the case of a Fort St. John developer who wanted to build a rodeo ground on farmland in his riding.

The Opposition NDP had accused Pimm of inappropriately lobbying the Agricultural Land Commission in 2013 on behalf of a constituent in his Peace River North riding who had applied to use a 70-hectare parcel of farmland as a rodeo ground and campsite.

Pimm had attended a tour of the site that involved ALC officials, and later – after the rodeo request was rejected by the ALC – wrote a letter urging the independent body to reconsider the application. After he became minister later in 2013, staff in his ministry requested an update from the ALC on the land application.
