MLA Pat Pimm cleared of conflict in farmland fracas: Vaughn Palmer

When news broke last year that B.C. Liberal MLA Pat Pimm was supporting a bid by a constituent to develop a rodeo ground on farmland, it came at a time of heightened concern over the fate of provincial agricultural land.

The newly elected Liberals had embarked on a review of the 40-year-old agricultural reserve. The premier had appointed Pimm minister of agriculture with a mandate to propose changes to improve farm finances and promote economic development.

Against that backdrop, the Agricultural Land Commission had turned down an application to reclassify the tract of farmland in Fort St. John for rodeo purposes, while accusing Pimm of “inappropriate conduct” on behalf of the applicant.
