The death of a heavily intoxicated Sherwood Park man, who party bus operators left by the side of a dark highway, has a provincial court judge calling for tougher rules for the industry.
Ashley Edward Fair, then 23 was killed in 2011, after he ran across Highway 16, near Elk Island National Park and was run over by a semi trailer.
Staff of P.T. Limos, the operators of the party bus, left Fair at the entrance to the park after he heavily intoxicated. His blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit when he died.
Judge S.E. Richardson found a shocking string of problems with the way party buses are regulated. Including that the AGLC doesn’t even have the ability to check on liquor licenses for vehicles, because while inspectors can walk into any bar, they can’t stop a vehicle.
