Former BC Hydro CEO pulls out of “biased” NEB Trans Mountain hearings

An economist and former CEO of BC Hydro has withdrawn from what he says is the “clearly biased” National Energy Board hearings into Kinder Morgan’s proposed expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline.

In a letter filed to the board last Thursday, Marc Eliesen said he was withdrawing as an expert intervener after becoming fed up with the company’s refusal to answer his questions and even angrier at the NEB for not compelling Kinder Morgan to respond.

“Most of the questions were not answered by Trans Mountain, so we appealed to the National Energy Board and the energy board basically said ‘no,’” Eliesen said Monday. “Out of the 2,000 questions submitted by all interveners they rejected 95 per cent,” he said Monday.
